$720,000 for Klinkhart Hall Arts Center

Klinkhart Hall Arts Center has received $720,000 in NY State grants for Phase I of the restoration and rehabilitation project for the historic Klinkhart Hall building on Main Street in Sharon Springs!

KHAC was awarded $500,000 from the Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation/ EPF program (the maximum grant from that agency!) and $220,000 from the Empire State Development Fund for Phase 1 of the stabilization and restoration of the historicKlinkhart Hall building in Sharon Springs. We will need $380,000 in additional funding to meet the required match and reach the anticipated $1.1 million needed to complete phase one: and we are already at work on that!

The New York State funding comes through the highly competitive Regional Economic Development Council Initiative and is part of over $85 million awarded to the Mohawk Valley REDC. This was the first application by the Arts Center through the Consolidated Funding Application process and represents a major success for a new not-for-profit organization.

Phase I of the overall restoration project includes stabilization and access: roof replacement, remediation of water damage to the structure, restoration of electrical and plumbing services, code-compliant access to the second floor, etc. The preliminary estimates for the full restoration & rehabilitation project is approaching $5 million, but a $1 million Phase I is more than a jump start!

You'll be hearing more about this project in the new year, but we are extremely pleased to end 2018 -- already a great year for Klinkhart Hall Arts Center -- with this exciting news. Thanks to all for your support and for believing in us.

And we are not the only ones in Sharon Springs to celebrate: the Village received $1 million, Beekman 1802 received $325,000, and Brimstone Bakery received $20,000! The Village of Sharon Springs is a true winner: we knew that, but now everyone else does as well!
